| A GASTRONOMIC SURPRISE AMONGST CORK OAKS |
This experience takes place in the heart of the immense Serra d’Espadà Natural Park. What makes this rugged territory so unique are its dense forests of cork oak trees, which grow here due to the area’s specific orographic and climatological characteristics. This is the authentic Mediterranean Jungle
We’ll start our route by delving into the La Mosquera ravine, allowing ourselves to be guided by an immense and wild landscape until we reach the farmhouse of the same name: a former cork production site that once corked wines and cavas from all over Spain. After a simple descent through the El Almanzor ravine (Who was this person? And what is his link to the monumental Castañera?) and having learnt almost everything about the uses of this impressive forest, we’ll arrive at the ancient Moorish village of Almedíjar. This is famous for its springs, its organic cheeses made in the traditional way (with thistle flower) and its range of red wines, which are starting to acquire a strong reputation. You’ll be able to sample all of these products before the end of this lunchtime activity.
PLEASE REMEMBER:
- Please bring suitable clothes and footwear for the activity. You’ll also need to bring water (1.5 litres/person) and a sugary snack, just in case.
- Includes local wine and artisan cheese tasting.
- Possibility of including a set menu lunch of locally-sourced produce at a restaurant.
