MADE-TO-MEASURE EXPERIENCES

NOCTURNAL ACTIVITY

| EL PEÑAGOLOSA: A STONE GIANT IN THE MOONLIGHT |

We’ll begin our adventure at dusk in the San Juan hermitage which stands at the feet of our most emblematic mountain: a landmark for all “castellonenses” since time immemorial.

After offering a warm welcome to the magical night’s sky, we’ll begin our hike, working our way through a dense forest. If the sky is clear, we won’t need any additional lighting, as the full moon will shed enough light to illuminate our path. We’ll tell you about what is hiding in the darkness, and will make time for a quick break before tackling the ascent to the peak. At the top we’ll take out our sleeping bags, mats and some liquor, spending the remaining hours waiting for the sun to rise on a brand new day. The views from the peak, seeing the sun rise over the horizon, cannot be explained in words. In the morning, we’ll enjoy a relaxing breakfast of delicious local products before heading back down. On our way down the La Pegunta ravine, we’ll make regular stop-offs to explain everything about this forest, including the reasons why people claim it could belong in other eras or continents, its rich biodiversity and the different ways in which humans have used its important natural resources in sustainable ways.

PLEASE REMEMBER:
  • Please bring appropriate footwear, a change of clothes, a coat, water (1.5 litres/person) and a sugary snack, just in case.
  • We recommend bringing a bathing costume, hat and sun cream.
  • The best time of year for participating in this activity is between July and August.
