CENTURIES-OLD OLIVE TREES

| CENTURIES-OLD OLIVE TREES OF MAESTRAZGO AND THE ROYAL SANCTUARY OF TRAIGUERA |

The Maestrazgo region is home to the greatest density of olive trees anywhere in Castellón, with these being, according to the latest ring datings, more than two thousand years old. Simply incredible.

While learning about the most characteristic features of the local culture and landscape, we’ll head into the fields to hug, feel and hear the heartbeat of these ancient trees. We will enjoy a unique local lunch in the Santa Isabel chapel before discovering the Sénia de Marimon: an enormous ancient waterwheel. Before sitting down for lunch, various olive oil producers will offer us the chance to taste their centuries-old liquid gold.

PLEASE REMEMBER:
  •  Please bring suitable clothes and footwear for the activity. You’ll also need to bring water (1.5 litres/person) and a sugary snack, just in case.
  • We recommend bringing a hat and sun cream if taking part in this activity between March and October.
  • Includes the opportunity to sample local olive oils.
  • Possibility of including a set menu lunch of locally-sourced produce at a restaurant and visiting the Royal Sanctuary of the Virgin of Health in Traiguera.
