MADE-TO-MEASURE EXPERIENCES

NATURAL PARKS

| THE DESIERTO DE LAS PALMAS RIDGES |

We’ll meet in the car park of the Convento de los Carmelitas in the Desierto de las Palmas. We’ll begin the ascent until we reach the edge of the Portería Vella, where we’ll be able to enjoy some magnificent views across the entire Natural Park, punctuated with constructions first erected by monks when they settled here. We’ll continue climbing through a lush Mediterranean scrubland until we reach the “carena”: an almost-flat area of ridges that we’ll walk along until we get to El Bartolo. During the fun and adventurous climb, we’ll explain some of the natural secrets of this beautiful spot. At the highest point of our route, standing in the shadows of the Alto del Bartolo cross, we’ll learn about the history of this monument, the name of the mountain and a mysterious astronomer who once lived here, developing mathematical calculations that we use on a daily basis without even realising it. We’ll have lunch in a spot with magnificent views across the coastline and the Monasterio Viejo de los Carmelitas: a true postcard image of Benicàssim.

PLEASE REMEMBER:
  • Please bring suitable clothes and footwear for the activity. You’ll also need to bring water (1.5 litres/person) and a sugary snack, just in case.
  • We recommend bringing a hat and sun cream if you plan on participating in this activity between March and October.
