Guided tour of Alcossebre

Before spending the night in the beautiful and peaceful touristic village of Alcossebre in a hotel with Valencian Community Natural Parks Brand certification, we’ll walk along its beachfront promenade and the adapted paths that pierce through its restored sand dunes.

MORNING

Irta’s unspoiled coastline

Departing from Alcossebre, we’ll head to the northern entrance to the Sierra de Irta Natural Park in Peñiscola. We’ll cover the first stretch of its unspoiled coastline by motorbike, learning about the historical and environmental features of its landscapes, the geology of its cliff faces and the values of its marine reserve. We’ll visit the anti-pirate coastal defences and soak up some fantastic views of Irta’s undeveloped coastline, cliffs and coves. Upon reaching the Playa del Pebret, we’ll meander our way down an accessible trail and discover the area’s best-kept botanical secrets.

Lunch in the heart of nature

We’ll prepare a delicious lunch made up of locally-sourced products, comprising an opportunity to get a taste of the local culture through its gastronomy.

Guided tour of Peñiscola and craft beer tasting

Peñiscola – known as the City in the Sea – will welcome us with all its splendour. We’ll discover its medieval streets and walls, explore the ancient Pala Luna fortress and end the day with a craft beer tasting activity in a family-run brewery.

La Vía Verde del Mar [The Maritime Greenway]

We’ll head to Oropesa to explore one of its most beautiful greenways (ancient train tracks that have been converted into ecotourism attractions): the Vía Verde del Mar. This is a 6.5 km greenway that links Oropesa to Benicàssim, passing by cliff faces and through tunnels that have been dug out of the rocks. Watchtowers will show us the way to the historic Hotel Voramar, terrace overlooking the beach has been frequented by illustrious guests such as Ernest Hemingway.

AFTERNOON

The Route of Las Villas and the Torre de Sant Vicent

We’ll walk along the wonderful 2 km promenade that gave rise to Valencian tourism in the 19th Century, before visiting an interpretation centre housed in the striking red Torre de Sant Vicent, which had been used to defend Benicàssim from pirate attacks from the 16th century onwards.
